About Our School

NAVIT offers 11th and 12th grade students who reside within the boundaries of our member school districts (as well as home-schooled students who live within the same boundaries) the chance to attend NAVIT career and technical education (CTE) programs.

What is CTE?

Career and technical education (CTE) is about helping students fulfill their working potential. It is where academic subject matter is taught with relevance to the real world; where real-world skills (from job-related skills to workplace ethics) are given hands-on experience. CTE prepares both youth and adults for a wide range of careers and prepares them for productive employment and rewarding careers.

How do we deliver CTE to NE Arizona Students?

NAVIT (Northern Arizona Vocational Institute of Technology) assists high school students by:

  1. assisting host school districts in upgrading/enhancing their vocational programs at their home campuses; and
  2. offering “central programs” at college campuses that are too costly or unwieldy to address at an individual high school.

Students may earn high school credit while attending NAVIT and graduate from their host high school. In addition, students earn community college credit from NPC or EAC. A typical student who chooses to attend a central program, such as cosmetology, would spend one-half day at his/her home high school site and one-half day at the NPC campus. Keep in mind that students who register for central programs do not pay for their tuition—NAVIT pays the students’ NPC tuition, books, and fees.

NAVIT’s central CTE programs are offered jointly with NPC and EAC. They are occupationally specific and taught by professionals who not only have worked in industry using state-of-the-art equipment but who are also caring individuals who have the vision to train students appropriately to compete in a global economy.
